Frequently Asked Questions

Question 1

What can I expect in a first session?

Accepted Answer

The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. I'll ask about what's brought you to counselling, your background, and what you're hoping to achieve. There's no pressure — you share only what feels comfortable. By the end, we'll have a sense of whether working together feels like a good fit.

Question 2

How long are sessions, and how often will we meet?

Accepted Answer

Sessions are 50 minutes. Most clients begin with weekly sessions, then move to bi-monthly or even longer in between as they move through the process. The frequency is always tailored to your needs and goals — we'll figure out what works best for you.

Question 3

What does counselling cost?

Accepted Answer

Sessions cost is 205$ per session. Some extended health plans may cover all or a significant portion of these sessions. Please consult your individual extended health care plan to inquire if and how much your plan will cover.

Question 4

Is counselling covered by insurance?

Accepted Answer

Many extended health benefit plans cover Registered Clinical Counsellors (RCC). I recommend checking with your provider before your first session. I provide receipts you can submit for reimbursement.

Question 5

Is what I share confidential?

Accepted Answer

Yes — confidentiality is a cornerstone of the therapeutic relationship. What you share stays between us, with a few legal exceptions: if there is risk of harm to yourself or others, if records are subpoenaed by a court or in the case of child abuse. I'll explain these limits clearly in our first session.

Question 6

Do you offer telehealth or online sessions?

Accepted Answer

Yes. I offer secure video sessions for clients across British Columbia. Online counselling is just as effective as in-person for most concerns, and many clients appreciate the flexibility it provides.

Question 7

How do I get started?

Accepted Answer

To schedule or book a session the best way is to go online and book through the Jane confidential booking platform. I am also available via phone or email.
